Ontario's universities are committed to ensuring academic integrity in teaching, learning and research. All universities post their policies and procedures on their websites, and some also provide those who teach with tools to encourage honesty in the student body.
Some of our universities' practices and procedures are considered to be among the best in postsecondary education circles and have been adopted by universities outside Canada.
This site is a central resource for information about academic integrity, as well as a gateway for students, faculty, teaching assistants, tutorial leaders and others to learn more about academic integrity and how each university addresses violations.
Students: Information about the policies at your university can be reached through the link listed as University Links on the menu and then by selecting the university you attend. If you are contemplating appealing a decision involving a breach of academic integrity, you may also want to look at the section called Case Studies.
Faculty, teaching assistants, tutorial leaders and others: Information on ways to encourage academic integrity in the classroom can be found on the menu through the link called Resources. The one called Case Studies will provide information about breaches of academic integrity and how they were handled by various universities.
Most universities have policies on academic integrity for faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and others engaged in research. These policies are listed online under Academic Integrity and/or Academic Integrity Policies and Procedures or, in some universities, under Misconduct in Academic Research which include reference to the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans - www.ncehr-cnerh.org/english/code_2/.
